What Has Jesus Saved YOU From?
Anxiety. Depression. Addiction. Perfectionism. Generational anger. Insecurity. Pride. Deep wounds inflicted by others. Illness.
These are just a few things of many that can plague us humans. If left untreated, these “diseases”, whether physical, mental, or of the heart, can have symptoms that are detrimental to the health of our lives. Much suffering can be inflicted, both internally and relationally, by the afflictions we bare.
Thankfully, God has provided a cure for what ails us.
It’s not a pill, a vaccine, medical treatment, or an ointment. The healing salve for our souls is Jesus Christ.
He has come to rid us not only of our most pervasive problems, sin and eternal separation from God, but also the sicknesses of our hearts and minds. The bible is brimming with stories of everyday people who were miraculously touched by the healing hand of The Great Physician, who came for the “sick”, not the healthy. One such example is Mary Magdalene, who suffered from demonic oppression. After Jesus cast out not one, but seven demons, Mary couldn’t help but serve the One who set her free. As a result of her deep gratitude, she devoted her days to spending time with the Lord, providing needs for Him, the disciples, and those around her.
She couldn’t help but bring others to the “Doctor” that gave her life back, so they too could experience the fullness of a healthy life that Jesus offers.
As a woman forever changed by the love of Jesus, her first-hand experience led her to be one of the few of His inner-circle that was present at the crucifixion. She also had the incredible honor of being the very first person He appeared to after the resurrection and charged with delivering the news to His disciples. What afforded her that opportunity? Aside from the obvious grace of God, could the way she lived post “illness” be any indication as to why the Lord would trust her with such an amazing task?
The account of Mary Magdelene begs the question: What Has Jesus saved YOU from?
Have you felt compelled to share with others the life-altering transition from being riddled with ailments to being healed or whole? People around you are desperate for that same freedom. Tell them the remedy.
